Photographing with Smoke Bombs
This was my first time photographing with smoke bombs. I asked my friend Victoria, who is an amazing dancer, to be my model for this photo session. She needs no direction when put in front of a camera, so I figured she would be the perfect person to test out smoke bomb photography with.
It took us a few tests smoke bombs to get the hang of it. We quickly learned that photographing with smoke bombs is very difficult and unpredictable. You need to consider a lot of factors when using smoke bombs in a photoshoot. These include weather, wind, amount of smoke, length of smoke bomb, etc.
While using one of the smoke bombs, Victoria pointed out behind me that we were creating light rays from the smoke. We took advantage of this and moved the smoke around to create smoke in an area where light rays were coming through the trees and smoke. It made for some GREAT photos!
